SUBTRACTING SINGLE DIGIT NUMBER WORKSHEETS

Subtracting One Digit Minus One Digit Numbers

To get started with subtraction, we are going to show you a couple of one digit minus one digit subtraction problems. Remember, subtraction means to take away, so when you see the minus sign you know it’s being taken away. Here are a few examples; we’ll show you in both pictures and numbers.
In pictures, it shows 4 — 2 = 2. The images show that if you had four circles, and crossed out two, you would have two left over, which is your answer.
Let’s try it again. Here’s another example problem:
This problem shows that if you have 5 and take away 2, you’re left with 3. (The pictures show 5 circles, taking away 2, there are 3 left).
We’ll give you one more. This time, we’ll leave the answer blank so that you have a chance to solve it yourself. Then, we’ll tell you the answer and you can compare yours to ours.
Now, try it yourself and see if you can figure out the answer.
